Volleyball falls to Covenant
The Lady Lions dropped their opener at Covenant Tuesday night to a fired-up Covenant team, 3-0 (28-30, 24-30, 27-30).
Covenant, looking to avenge their two losses to the Lions last season, came out and challenged the Lions early. Inconsistant passing kept the Lions from utilizing their offense, and Covenant ran their quick offense effectively.
The Lions hit an abismal .069 throughout the match. Defensively, they fared no better. "We did not execute our game plan tonight. We failed to make the adjustments the coaching staff called for," commented Coach Leo Sayles. "We had our chances, but could never sustain any runs. Covenant played well, and we did not. That's all there is to it."
Leah White was the lone bright spot in the Bryan offense, hitting .500. Abby Humphrey controlled the back line, receiving 40% of the team receptions.
Bryan (0-1, 2-7) next faces Montreat and Brevard at home this Friday night (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday (11:00 a.m.).
