lbass.jpgSenior guard Liz Bass set a Bryan career scoring record Thursday, Feb. 24, as the Lady Lions defeated Union in their opening appearance in the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament in Bristol, Tenn.

She passed the record set by Shannon Law Dancilla, who played from 1984-1988, on a free throw in the second half. With that, she reached 2,364 career points, and added four more to finish the game with 2,368.

The Lady Lions play the winner of the Virginia Intermont-Covenant game Friday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m.

In Thursday’s game, Liz’ sister Sarah led the Lady Lions in scoring with 30 points. Sarah joined her sister in passing the 2,000-point mark on Feb. 15. Coach Matt Bollant said earlier of the pair, “Sarah and Liz will go down as two of the best players ever to play at Bryan. It has been an honor to coach them both."

He pointed out that this year’s senior class recorded their 108th Bryan victory with the tournament win over Union.
