Lorraine Doran, Academic Support Center

After receiving a degree in Elementary Education from Bryan, I went on to earn a Masters in Education from Tusculum College in 2007. My teaching experiences have afforded me many opportunities to work with a variety of ages, backgrounds, and learning abilities.  I have always enjoyed helping others in the learning process. Working in the Academic Support Center is an exciting opportunity where I can see students encouraged to sharpen and strengthen the unique abilities and gifts God has given them as they prepare to go into the world to serve Him.

Pamela Hollis, Writing Center Director

Whether working with peers as an undergraduate student, ESL students in the Pacific, or my students at Bryan, I have found an almost universal insecurity when someone shares a sample of his or her writing: Did I do it right? Do you see what I mean? Do you understand me? I've learned that to help others with their writing is to love and to serve.

Natasha Buckler, Writing Center Assistant Director

Since graduating from Bryan in 2007, I have taught high school English in Jasper County, Georgia and worked on short stories and an historical novel. This fall, I will be teaching freshman classes at Bryan and at Chattanooga State, in addition to moving to Hixson, where I plan to grade lots of papers and work on my own writing in the time that will be left.

Sam Youngs, Coordinator of Special Projects and Services

I work part-time in the ASC this year as a tutor, test proctor, and writing consultant. I am also an Adjunct Instructor in Christian Thought at Bryan College and Adjunct Professor of Religion at Chattanooga State Community College. I received my B.A. from the University of South Florida, double-majoring in Religious Studies and Literature. My M.A. in Religion was earned from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in S. Hamilton, MA. Teaching and mentoring are my vocational passions; these passions are shared by my wife Anna, who is a key speaker and ministry director for The Discipleship Network of America (www.dnaministries.org).  We love to pursue relational, discipling interactions with students and young people. We live in Dayton, TN.

Evan Johnson, Coordinator of Special Projects and Services

I am a recent Bryan graduate and longtime lover of History. I recently got married to the most beautiful woman around, the former Ms Hannah Lee. She currently works in the Admissions office. For the Academic Support Center I wear many hats. I oversee the history tutors as well as offer tutoring myself. I also plan various workshops and study sessions of students needing assistance in the historical field. Many students who come to the History Center are looking for study tips or help researching and citing papers in Turabian and Chicago. I help provide those students with the information and assistance they need. I particularly enjoy it when students come just to chat about their history classes.  So come on by; I would love a visit.

Elisa Whitlock, Senior Administrative Assistant

I'm a Sophomore English Lit major who loves all forms of art - visual art, music, drama, dance, writing. This is my first year working as an Administrative Assistant, and I'm really enjoying it. Feel free to come ask me any questions you might have scheduling an ASC appointment or test proctoring. I'm also a writing consultant, so I'd love it if you made an appointment with me about any papers you need help with.

Robin Harrison, Administrative Assistant

I’m a Freshman here at Bryan, and, though currently undecided, will probably be majoring in Biology. I love reading, writing, music, watching movies, hanging out with friends, science and coffee. If you have any questions about the Academic Support Center or Writing Center, please don’t hesitate to ask! I’d love to help you out however I can.

Heather Jones, Administrative Mentor

Hi, my name is Heather, and this is my fourth year working in the Academic Support Center office. I am a Bryan Alum with a business degree and aspirations to be a hotel manager. My favorite things include crocheting, talking with friends, and sitting in the grassy bowl under the warming sun.
