Corey) <em>The Just War Tradition: An Introduction,</em> ISI Books, 2011.&nbsp; In addition, Dr. Charles spoke at the 2011 US Army Command and General Staff College Ethics Symposium, November 7-10, Fort Leavenworth, KS.&nbsp; His address was titled &quot;Caught by Surprise: The Post-Cold War Relevance of the Just War Tradition.&quot;&nbsp; He also spoke at the 2011 Notre Dame Ethis and Culture Conference, November 10-12 at the&nbsp;University of Notre Dame; his address title was &quot;My Criminal Brain Made Me Do It: Metaphysics Masquerading as Science.&quot;<br />
<br />
<a href="/clauson"><strong>Dr. Kevin L. Clauson </strong></a>and <a href="/ricketts"><strong>Dr. Travis Ricketts</strong></a> attended the annual Hillsdale Free Market Forum in Atlanta October 27-29.&nbsp; Several panels made up of various experts and scholars addressed pressing economic issues such as the national debt, public employee unions, and how to eliminate federal agencies.&nbsp; Keynote speakers included&nbsp;Daniel Hannan, Conservative Party British member of the EU Parliament and Governor Nikki Haley of South Carolina.<br />

<a href="/held"><strong>Dr. Peter Held</strong></a> and <a href="/11324.html#bio?start=tab5"><strong>Mr. Andrew McPeak</strong></a>, along with seven students, as a part of the class Apologetics and the Redemptive Life, attended the National Conference on Christian Apologetics in Charlotte, North Carolina, October 28-29. Speakers included Josh McDowell, William Dembski, William Lane Craig and Bryan College alumnus, Kent Suter. The 18th annual conference was sponsored by Southern Evangelical Seminary.<br />
<br />
<strong>Mrs. Vonnie Johnson</strong>, public services librarian, attended the annual meeting of TennShare on October 27-28 in Nashville.&nbsp; The meeting focused on using Ebooks and resource sharing for libraries across Tennessee.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition, Mrs. Johnson and&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Keri-Lynn Paulson</strong>, outreach librarian,&nbsp;attended&nbsp;the workshop, &ldquo;Creative Approaches on Teaching Information Literacy&rdquo; with Richard Hensley on November 14 at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Hodges Library.<br />

<a href="/david_luther"><strong>Dr. David Luther</strong></a>, Vietnam War army veteran, was invited to sing the National Anthem at an event for veterans&nbsp;at La-Z-Boy in Dayton on Nov. 9.&nbsp; State Representative Jim Cobb was the keynote speaker.<br />

<a href="/sigrid_luther"><strong>Dr. Sigrid Luther </strong></a>was one of two keyboardists for the Glenn Draper Concert at the Tivoli Theater in Chattanooga, TN, on November 6.<br />
<br />
<a href="/4194"><strong>Mr. Bruce&nbsp;Morgan</strong></a>&nbsp;attended the TICUA Chief Student Affairs Officers meeting in Nashville on November 11.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a&nbsp;member of the planning committee for the event and in that capacity invited <a href="http://www.bryan.edu/administrative_officers#bio?start=tab4"><strong>Dr. Bradford Sample</strong></a> to speak about &quot;First Year Experience Programs.&quot;<br />
<br />
<strong>Mrs. Sally Powell</strong>, adjunct&nbsp;music instructor, is serving on the steering committee for NPR&#39;s &quot;From the Top,&quot; which will be taping live in Chattanooga in 2012 at the Tivoli Theatre. The committee, made up of faculty from local schools of music as well as leaders in the Chattanooga arts community, is assisting Southern Adventist University and WSMC, co-sponsors of this event. Mrs. Powell also served as a master teacher and adjudicator for the Appalachian Music Association&#39;s annual Sonata Festival, November 18-19, Milligan College, Johnson City, TN. Mrs. Powell taught advanced vocal master classes and assisted colleagues in evaluating vocal and piano competitors.

				<description><![CDATA[ <a href="/bradshaw"><strong>Dr. Steve Bradshaw</strong></a>, <a href="/rose"><strong>Dr. Clark Rose</strong></a>, and <a href="/tallant"><strong>Ms. Kauri Tallant</strong></a>, along with 22 students, attended the American Association of Christian Counselors World Conference in Nashville from September 28-October 1.&nbsp; Speakers included&nbsp;Larry Crabb, John Ortberg, John Townsend, T. D. Jakes, Luis Palau, Wess Stafford, and Lee Strobel.&nbsp; This biyearly World conference is the largest gathering of Christian counselors in the world, and students attending the conference receive academic credit.&nbsp; It is a great opportunity for psychology majors to see nationally recognized speakers, rub shoulders with counselors in a training setting, and reinforce the need for more Christian counselors in the field.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />
<br />
<a href="/eenigenburg"><strong>Mr. Jeff Eenigenburg</strong></a> and <a href="/scott_jones"><strong>Dr. Scott Jones</strong></a>&nbsp;attended the 2011 North American Professors of Christian Education Annual Conference at Seattle Pacific University&nbsp;October 20-22.&nbsp; The theme of the conference was &ldquo;The Role of Scripture in Christian Formation and Education.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; The two plenary speakers were Eugene Peterson, former Professor of Spiritual Formation at Regent College, and Rick Yount, Professor of Christian Education at Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary.<br />

<a href="11309.html#bio?start=tab3"><strong>Mr. Steve Keck</strong> </a>recently completed the Lifestyle Giving&nbsp;Estate Design training, which included training on&nbsp;biblical stewardship, strategic planning, taxation, and legal aspects.&nbsp; In addition on October 27, he passed the Series 7 Securities License Examination, the Qualification Examination for General Securities Registered Representatives.<br />

<a href="/page"><strong>Dr. Dwight Page</strong> </a>attended the annual meeting of the Swiss American Historical Society, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on&nbsp;October 8.&nbsp; Dr. Page, the Editor-in-Chief of the Swiss American Historical Society Review, gave the annual report on the publications of the Society.<br />
<br />
<a href="/perron"><strong>Mr. David Perron</strong> </a>gave a presentation titled &ldquo;Simple Nutrition/Simple Weight Training,&rdquo; to a <a href="http://teenpact.com/" target="_blank">TeenPact</a> group on October 12.<br />

<a href="/11324.html#bio?start=tab3"><strong>Ms. Danielle Rebman</strong></a> attended the annual Forum hosted by the Fellowship of Short-Term Mission Leaders in Green Lake, Wisconsin, on October 12-15. The keynote speaker was Robert Guerrera of the Del Camino network.&nbsp;<br />

<a href="/tallant"><strong>Ms. Kauri Tallant</strong></a> attended the CASE workshop entitled &quot;Dance of the Sexes: Celebrating the Soul in Single Sexuality&quot; at Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta with Resident Directors <a href="/4088.html#bio?start=tab2"><strong>Ms. Bonnie Spallinger</strong></a> and <a href="/4086.html#bio?start=tab2"><strong>Ms. Karie Harpest </strong></a>on October 27.<br />

Lion&rsquo;s Pride <a href="/bookstore">Campus Store </a>Manager <strong>Mrs. Tami Tullberg</strong>&nbsp;was honored by the Tennessee Association of College Stores as she completed a term as president of the organization.&nbsp; Tami has served on the TACS board for six years, including serving as vice president the year before she assumed the presidency.&nbsp; She will remain on the board for one more year to help the incoming president plan the 2012 state meeting and to recruit new board members.&nbsp; TACS is made up of representatives of college stores and the vendors who serve them and&nbsp;is associated with the National Association of College Stores.<br />

<a href="/wilhoit"><strong>Dr. Mel R. Wilhoit</strong></a> wrote a music review for the opening of the Chattanooga Symphony season that was published in the <em>Chattanooga Times-Free Press</em> on September 25.&nbsp; Recent trumpet performances include the following:&nbsp; Oak Street Baptist Church (Soddy) Homecoming Service on October 2, Chattanooga State University Faculty Recital at Chattanooga State campus on October 6, and&nbsp;Symphony of Praise Concert at NWGB Amphitheatre (Ringgold, GA) on October 7.<br />

				Her nomination for the honor said, in part, &ldquo;She genuinely cares about others, and it shows in her friendly tone when answering the phone or when helping someone new to campus. No matter how busy with multiple calls, she takes time to listen and help.&rdquo;<br />

				<description><![CDATA[ <a href="http://www.bryan.edu/11309.html#bio?start=tab13">Mr. David Beisner </a>attended the Social Media Marketing 2011 Seminar in Chattanooga on August 19.<br />

<strong>Dr. Ed Fickley</strong>, adjunct instructor, attended the Tennessee Association of Middle Schools annual conference in Sevierville, TN, June 16-17, where he conducted a workshop titled, &quot;Making Learning Meaningful.&quot;<br />
<br />
<a href="/fitsimmons">Dr. Gary Fitsimmons</a> continues to have quarterly installments of his &ldquo;Small Academic Library Perspective Library Leadership&rdquo; column published in <em>The Bottom Line: Managing Library Finances</em>. The latest are a series on &ldquo;Directing the Personnel Search.&rdquo; He was also elected to the position of Vice-Chair/Chair Elect of the Library Operations and Management Section of the Library Leadership and Management Association.&nbsp; He assumed this office while attending the&nbsp; American Library Association&rsquo;s 2011 Annual Conference held the last week of June in New Orleans, LA.<br />

<strong>Mr. Matt Johnson</strong>, coordinator for institutional effectiveness, attended The Institute on Quality Enhancement and Accreditation&nbsp;hosted by the&nbsp;Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), July 17-20, Fort Worth, TX.<br />
<a href="/myers"><br />
Dr. Jeff Myers</a>, who taught at and represented Bryan College for 14 years, was unanimously appointed by the board of <a href="http://summit.org" target="_blank">Summit Ministries</a> to become its new president upon the retirement of Dr. David Noebel.&nbsp; The Myers family moved to Manitou Springs, Colorado, during the summer in preparation for Jeff to assume his new responsibilities October 1.&nbsp; Below is Dr.&nbsp;Myers&#39;&nbsp;recent speaking schedule:

<a href="/pascucci">Dr. Michele Pascucci </a>has relocated to Washington, DC, for her sabbatical year in order to take advantage of the city&#39;s numerous museums and research libraries, as well as to interact with Hispanic and Japanese cultures in the nation&#39;s capital.&nbsp; As a former participant of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (1998-2001), Dr. Pascucci attended a reception at the Japanese Ambassador&#39;s residence in Washington on July 29. During her sabbatical year Dr. Pascucci also plans to do some international travel, including Europe this fall and Latin America in the spring. She is scheduled to present a paper at the XXII Congreso Internacional de ASELE in Valladolid, Spain, at the end of September.<br />

<a href="/sanders">Dr. Roger Sanders</a> was a guest speaker at the Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene on May 29; First Baptist Church, Willard, Missouri, June; and Rocky Mountain Creation Fellowship, Denver, CO, June 10, where he was also interviewed for the radio program <em>Real Science Friday</em> (<a href="http://kgov.com/bel/20110610" target="_blank">available here</a>).&nbsp; He attended the Botany 2011 conference in St. Louis, MO, including two days of research at the Missouri Botanical Garden, July 10-15. &nbsp;He and&nbsp;Dr. Todd Wood attended Origins 2011 in Rapid City, SD, July 26-30, where he presented two contributed papers.&nbsp;<br />

<a href="/wood">Dr. Todd C. Wood</a> attended the annual conference of the Society for the Study of Evolution held in Stillwater, OK, June 17-21.&nbsp; His commentary on the conference is available at <a href="http://toddcwood.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">his blog</a>.&nbsp; Accompanied by archivist and CORE assistant <strong>Mrs. Stephanie Wood</strong>, he also attended Origins 2011, the annual joint conference of the Creation Biology Society and Creation Geology Society, in Rapid City, SD, July 26-30.&nbsp; There he presented four contributed papers and one invited lecture.<br />
