History

Names and dates can’t adequately explain history.

Sure, in the history department at Bryan College we do discuss names and dates, but we want to learn from history. All of those little details create context for interpretation. Rub brains with your professors and your peers in an effort to find your historical voice and in the process observe how relationships with Christ throughout history have radically and consistently caused individuals to change the course of their lives.

We like history; we love our students. Teaching is what takes place in the lives of our students as we work through what we call “Life 101” using the discipline of history and the search for truth, which while never relative, is often elusive.

As one of our recent graduates wrote, “I wanted to thank you for all of the time and energy you have put into me and my education over the past four years. Being a history major has been so amazing, and I have learned more than I ever thought possible! Thank you for pushing me to do my best and encouraging me along the way. I will never forget the lessons I have learned here, both from history and from life.”
