Overview

The Christian Ministry major is a unique and rigorous academic program that combines orthodoxy with orthopraxy. In order to be an effective leader in any realm of Christian ministry, you must possess a strong foundational orthodoxy. To help develop this foundational orthodoxy, you are required to take courses in biblical studies, biblical languages, and Christian theology.

Although a strong orthodoxy is essential for you, as a future Christian leader, of equal necessity is a practical and relevant orthopraxy. To help shape this active-oriented mindset, regardless of which degree option you choose, you will be required to take core courses that are relevant for all Christian ministry leaders.

In addition to these core courses, you will take other specialized courses that are highly practical in nature in relation to the degree option you choose. Thus, you can expect to receive a well-balanced education in orthodoxy and orthopraxy.

Our Christian Ministry program is designed to prepare you for a variety of service opportunities in the local church or parachurch ministries. The program also effectively prepares you for further graduate studies in the field. 

Our faculty, all with PhD's, DMin, and Master's level education in the field of Christian education, are committed to one-on-one discipleship and a quality of education that is both preparatory and devotional in nature to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Christian Leadership is designed for those students who desire to serve in various types of Christian ministry leadership positions in the local church or parachurch organization. Emphasis is placed upon development of leadership abilities for biblically and culturally relevant ministry leadership.
  • Pastoral Ministry is designed for those students who desire to serve the local church in a pastoral staff role, particularly the position of lead pastor. Emphasis is placed upon providing necessary understanding and skills for biblically and culturally relevant pastoral ministry.
  • Youth Ministry is designed for those students who are called to the vocational ministry of leading and serving adolescents in the realm of local church or parachurch ministry. Emphasis is placed upon equipping youth, parents, and leaders for biblically and culturally relevant youth ministry.
  • Worship Arts is designed for those students who desire to serve as worship leaders in the local church or parachurch organization. Emphasis is placed upon a solid biblical and theological foundation for worship ministry, practical leadership development, expertise in music, and a familiarity with technology and other art forms used in worship settings.
