SUMMARY:

Bryan College seeks applications from persons interested in filling a position in the English Department.  The position requires teaching literature and composition at the college level, integrating these studies with a Christian worldview.  Candidates must have expertise in Rhetoric & Composition, preferably with experience in Writing Center and Writing Across the Curriculum administration.  Candidates will be responsible for upper-level classes such as Advanced Grammar & Editing Essentials, and they will work with Department personnel on curriculum needs for undergraduate composition courses.  Candidates will teach composition courses and Introduction to Literature and may be called upon to teach other courses for Creative Writing and Literature.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach 12 hours per semester with standard responsibilities related to committee work and student advising
  • High Priority placed on individual student/teacher interaction and mentoring
  • Teach literature and composition at the college level, integrating a Christian worldview
  • Expertise in Rhetoric & Composition preferably with experience in Writing Center and Writing Across the Curriculum administration
  • Responsible for upper-level classes such as Advanced Grammar & Editing essentials
  • Work with department personnel on curriculum needs for undergraduate composition coursees
  • Will teach composition courses and Introduction to Literature and may be called upon to teach other courses for Creative Writing and Literature

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Doctorate in English with breadth of undergraduate and graduate experience, preferably in the liberal arts and Rhetoric and Composition. 
  • Candidates at or near ABD standing in an accredited doctoral program will be considered for the position.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of/experience with writing centers, and TESL desirable
