Bryan College defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 3-2 at home to improve their record to 2-1 on the season and reestablish dominance on their home pitch.
Tennessee Wesleyan came to play and moved the ball well early in the match and were able to go up on the Lions 2-0 in the first half. The Lions created chances of their own but were unable to finish the opportunities that occured n the first half. The Lions were working hard but things just didn't go their way early in the match.
In the second half, the Lion's intensity on the field, combined with quality work rate, led to some good chances for the Lions. Midway through the half, transfer Ryan Simon, came up from the back line where he had been anchoring the squad defensively, and was able to head home a corner cick which gave the Lions a lift and a reward for their work. The Lions continued to press forward and got a second goal shortly after as Ben Whitley, who had narrowly missed twice earlier, beat the keeper to the ball in the air and headed one in on the goal line, tying the game.
A few minutes later, freshman Tyler Cheek struck a beauty of a goal into the top right hand corner of the net from 25 yards out to seal the game for the Lions. It was a great come-from-behind victory for the Lions as their hard work was rewarded. The Bryan Faithful was out in good numbers and were treated to a fine, entertaining match in which Bryan improved their record to 2-1 on the season.
The Lions travel to Crown College on September 28th for their next match.
