Bryan’s collegiate chapter of NAfME: The National Association for Music Education was launched in Fall 2007. Through membership of more than 75,000 active, retired, and pre-service music teachers, and with 60,000 honor students and supporters, NAfME serves millions of students nationwide through activities at all teaching levels, from preschool to graduate school.
Most recently NAfME students traveled to Tennessee Tech University for the NAfME Annual Kick-Off. This was a workshop that featured Dr. Andre Thomas, Florida State University, an active director of All-State choirs around the United States. In addition to hearing Dr. Thomas, students were able to choose other workshops that pertained to their area of focus with such options as “How to Begin a Band Boosters Program,” “How to Have a Successful Interview,” and “Where to Search for Choral Literature.” The students enjoyed throughout the Kick-Off event opportunities to engage with students from other Tennessee colleges and universities.
NAfME students participate in a variety of activities such as attending monthly meetings and working on a spring semester project.
