Bryan is gearing up to welcome back alumni from all years in less than one month on Oct. 11-13 for Homecoming 2013.
The weekend schedule opens on Friday, Oct. 11, with a special chapel service featuring singer and songwriter Josh Bales, along with a brown bag lunch to the beloved Pocket Wilderness and the Tuscany in the Triangle outdoor dinner. Later that evening will be reunions for the classes of 1988, 2003, 2008, and 2013, in addition to alumni baseball, rugby, soccer, and basketball games.
Saturday, Oct. 12, offers more favorite events: Breakfast on the Bluff, a tailgate lunch, and men’s and women’s soccer games. The highlight of the evening will be the alumni dinner and awards celebration, featuring speaker and author Dr. Gary Phillips, along with the 100-year birthday party for James Morring ’38, Bryan’s oldest living alum!
Alumni also have the opportunity to participate in two Paw Pounder runs on Saturday: an extreme 5K or 10K or the popular Run of Many Colors 5K. Scholarship Fund Director David Holcomb says, “We are so excited about the Paw Pounder Extreme and Color Runs. It is a great way for our Bryan community to support the Bryan Scholarship Fund through a fun event.”
Don’t forget to stay for Sunday’s alumni chapel church service in Rudd Auditorium and Audio Adrenaline’s free concert that evening.
“I seldom hear that alumni are disappointed they made the effort to return ‘home’ because it is always such an awesome time of reconnecting with old friends and making new ones,” says Alumni Director Paulakay Hall. “Alums always pick up where they left off, even if it has been many years since they have seen each other, it is an amazing Bryan phenomenon. We are looking forward to another awesome homecoming this year, but it won’t be the same without you – please join us!”
