The Bryan Music and Theatre departments will present “Classical Broadway,” a revue of popular show music, as the final production of the year Thursday-Friday, April 28-29.
Mr. Bernie Belisle, theatre director who is producing the show, said there will be a variety of music, from ballads to comedy to farce to serious selections, presented during the evening.
Performing will be underclassmen music, musical theatre, or theatre majors who chose and prepared their selections in cooperation with their voice teachers, Dr. David Luther and Mrs. Kim Keck. Among selections on the program are “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from “Funny Girl,” “I Want To Be a Producer” from “The Producers,” and “Bosom Buddies” from “Mame.”
“We opted to feature students who don’t necessarily get to sing show tunes in this venue,” Mr. Belisle said. “Everybody can’t be the lead in a play, but we wanted to give more students the opportunity to showcase their talents.”
In addition to the performers, senior Emily Hundley has coordinated the production, and senior Jason Hundley will serve as narrator.
“Classical Broadway” will be presented without charge April 28-29 in Rudd Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
