It’s time for a hearty “Welcome Home, Lions,” as the Alumni office prepares for Homecoming 2012 Friday through Sunday, October 5-7.
Alumni enjoy lunch at Homecoming 2011. Special guests will be members of the Class of 1987 as they celebrate their 25th reunion at dinner Friday night. Paulakay (Franks) Ricketts, ’84, homecoming event planner, said Friday’s schedule also calls for special dinners for the five-year reunion for the Class of 2007, and the first reunion for the Class of 2012.
New this year will be Tuscany in the Triangle, Friday’s dinner for alumni and families not involved with other reunions. “We will have an Italian picnic, a pasta feast,” Ms. Ricketts said.
Alumni are invited to the second annual Breakfast on the Bluff at Fort Bluff Camp on Dayton Mountain at 8 a.m. Saturday. Breakfast will kick off a day full of activities, including a tailgate lunch, soccer game against St. Catharine College, and the alumni awards banquet.
During the banquet, inductions will be made for the Athletics Hall of Fame. The Alumni of the Year, Young Alumni of the Year and Honorary Alumni will be introduced. Athletics Director Dr. Sandy Zensen will be honored at a reception following the banquet for his 22 years as head men’s soccer coach.
Homecoming festivities will conclude with the alumni worship service Sunday at 10 a.m. Schaun Myers, ’87, will speak, and Scott Hooker, ’82, and Jim Koan, ’87, will lead worship.
