Bryan’s academic scholarship competition will take on a new look this semester, as prospective students can find out their grant amounts based on qualifications, then go through an essay and interview process to increase their award.
Director of Admissions Aaron Porter said this year’s first competition, February 24-25, will allow students to seek a $1,000 interdisciplinary scholarship in addition to the Presidential or Dean’s Scholarship for which they are eligible. Students can visit the academic scholarships web page to determine the grant for which they are eligible.
“Students with an ACT score of 24, or an SAT score of 1100, and a 3.0 grade point average are invited to attend one of the scholarship weekends to experience our most exciting visit event of the year,” Mr. Porter said. “Not only will they have the exclusive opportunity to register for their first semester of classes, but they will also have the chance to interact with professors from their area of study. The weekend also includes a banquet honoring the scholars and a variety of sessions that highlight Bryan’s financial aid, worldview, academic, and Honors programs.”
Deadline to register for the first scholarship event is Jan. 20, he said.
To be eligible, a student must have completed an application and have been accepted to the college before the event deadline. After acceptance, the student will be required to write an essay, which will be considered in the scholarship interview process.
