Rudd Auditorium will brim with powerful melodies and beloved musical favorites on Friday, Nov. 8, as the Bryan College Music Department presents the annual Fall Musical Showcase.
Dr. Sigrid Luther will perform Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” in her
last major performance before retirement from Bryan College. Music Department Chair Dr. Mel Wilhoit looks forward to the showcase as a chance for the music department to shine in what he calls “a wonderful display of the whole range of talents in our music department.”
With lyrical selections such as songs from Leonard Bernstein’s “Westside Story” and “When the Foeman Bears His Steel” from Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Pirates of Penzance,” to classical pieces such as Antonio Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Two Trumpets: Allegro” and J.S. Bach’s “Sonata in A Minor,” the program promises to amaze and delight all who attend.
“The program definitely has something for everyone, from serious to hilarious,” said Wilhoit. “The featured work will be Dr. Sigrid Luther performing Gershwin’s famous ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ on the piano – her last major performance before retirement from Bryan College.”
This free concert is open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m. in Rudd Auditorium on the Bryan campus.
