Men’s golf finishes strong in AAC National qualifier

Men's Golf AAC QualifierApril 29, 2015 — The Bryan Lions Men’s Golf team finished strong at the AAC National Qualifier at the beautiful 6,846 yard Governor’s Towne Club in Acworth, Ga. In the third round Bryan fired a 305 as a team, bettering the overall AAC champion Tennessee Wesleyan, the Fall AAC Champion, Union, and the Spring AAC Champion, Truett-McConnell.

The strong finish in the third round allowed Bryan to finish 4th overall in the National Qualifier. Sophomore, Tom Durbin, led the Lions firing a 73-73-77, totaling 223, to finish in 5th place making the AAC National Qualifier All-Tournament team. Tom also made the AAC All Conference Team for the second year in a row. He became the first Bryan Lion to accomplish this feat. Finishing two strokes behind Durbin was senior, Dean Hoare, who fired a 76-76-73, totaling 225, to finish in the top 10. Dean’s score of 73 was tied for the third lowest score in the third round on the difficult Governor’s Towne Club Course. Dean had finished the fall season ranked in the top 25 in the nation with a 72.50 average. His overall average for the entire year was 73.76, making him the third highest ranked player in the AAC.
