September 14, 2015 – Last Thursday, from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M., Bryan College Career Services hosted an open house designed to familiarize students – from freshmen to seniors – with the myriad events and resources the department provides.
“We also had the goal of relieving some stress from the first two weeks of class and students’ syllabus shock,” said Director of Career Services Beverley Meadows. “We asked visitors to complete a short survey on what services and events they have found most helpful, along with suggestions on how we can improve our services. All in all, we had over 170 students and over 30 faculty and staff members attend, and it was a great success.”
Students, faculty, and staff who filled out the surveys were entered into drawings for door prizes, including gift cards and gift baskets. Another draw for this event was the availability of complimentary 5-minute chair and hand massages offered by local Christian spa Graceworks. In addition, the first 50 students received free stress balls.
The open house was so well-received that nearly 50 surveys had been submitted before the event even began at 10 A.M. Meadows is thrilled at the number of students the career services department was able to reach through the open house and is confident that the feedback received from the surveys will continue to strengthen the department’s ability to aid students in preparing for future internships and careers.
