Dr. Francis Kimmitt is the Assistant Vice President of Academics and Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Bryan College. He has been here at Bryan College since August 2015. Prior to that he was the Vice President for Academic Services at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga for three years. Before that, he taught Old Testament and Hebrew at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in Atlanta and New Orleans for 20 years. He earned the Master of Divinity in Biblical Languages and Ph.D. in Old Testament and Hebrew from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He also holds a Master of Education in Secondary Science Education from the University of Houston, a Bachelor of Earth Sciences from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor of General Studies from Louisiana State University.

He and his wife, Judy, have been married for 37 years. They met while they were both working for Shell Oil Company in New Orleans. They have two children: their son Lee who lives with them, and their daughter Lynn, who is married to Josh. They have two children, Bethany and Caleb. The Kimmitts live in Rock Spring GA and are members of Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring and where he teaches the Wednesday night Bible Study for adults. He has also led mission trips to Costa Rica, a Restricted Access Country in the Middle East, and taught local pastors and church workers in Romania and Russia.
