Hilltop Players present 'Scrooge: The Musical'
November 11, 2010
The Hilltop Players and Music Department will combine to present the holiday production, “Scrooge! The Musical,” December 9-11.
Rather than following the usual tradition of presenting a concert this Christmas, the music and theatre departments will present a musical setting of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”
Director Bernie Belisle explained that Music Department Chair Dr. Mel Wilhoit will be on sabbatical next semester “so we couldn’t do a musical then. ‘Scrooge’ is a favorite of the (Drs. David and Sigrid) Luthers, and I’ve been thinking about a Christmas show for a long time. This felt like the time to do it.”
In addition to the beloved story, the musical includes the audience-favorite songs “Thank You Very Much” and “December the 25th.”
