Bryan College Worship & Performing Arts Program

Worship & Performing Arts Program

Here at Bryan College, we prepare you to succeed in the arts through exploration, practice, and one-on-one interactions with our expert faculty. We provide tools for you to develop your craft as well as many opportunities for public performance. Our three main areas include Music, Theatre, and Worship Arts. In each area, you will find caring faculty and a community-like atmosphere of support and encouragement as you develop a Christian worldview within the arts.

In the Worship and Performing Arts department at Bryan College, you will find many majors to fit your desired career goals. Are you interested in leading worship at a church? Check out the Worship Arts major. Do you want to be a singer/songwriter or work in music technology? Look for a B.S. degree in Contemporary Music. Have you thought about opening a piano studio and teaching? Consider the B.S. in Piano Pedagogy. Have you always wanted to work as an actor? We have an excellent Theatre major. Other programs include Music Performance, Music Education, Church Music, or a general Music degree which pairs well with a double major. Come visit our department and see what makes our programs so unique!

What sets our Worship & Performing Arts Program apart?

WPA

Students in the Music program are thoroughly trained in both the theoretical and practical aspects of music–within the context of a biblical worldview– in order to use their talents for performing and teaching. This degree provides professional preparation for a career in piano instruction, as well as a foundation for life-long learning experiences in music.

As a Theatre major at a smaller school, you will get far more firsthand experience with productions, whether that means being cast in several roles as an actor or being able to work as an assistant director, customer, or designer for a show. The main stage Hilltop Players productions we select at Bryan offer you the opportunity to get involved and grow as an artist in a way that larger programs are simply unable to provide.

The Bachelor of Science in Worship Arts prepares students to be well-rounded and equipped for a variety of ministry settings, with a focus on robust and holistic worship in the experience of the contemporary church.

A Music degree has prepared students with a blended study of music with communications, psychology, and business in order to access a variety of career opportunities.

Church Music graduates are teaching music in public and private schools, while others are serving churches as worship leaders or choir directors. Still, more have exciting careers outside the music field while using music to enrich their lives and the lives of others.

Contemporary Music graduates are teaching music in public and private schools, while others are serving churches as worship leaders or choir directors. Others are employed in the music industry, including some with strong performance abilities who are singing and playing all over the world. Still, more have exciting careers outside the music field while using music to enrich their lives and the lives of others.

Musical Theatre graduates are teaching music and drama in public and private schools, while others are serving their communities in local and regional theaters. Others with strong performance abilities are singing and playing all over the world. Still, more have exciting careers outside the music field while using music to enrich their lives and the lives of others.

Music Education graduates are teaching music in public and private schools, while others are serving churches as worship leaders or choir directors. Others with strong performance abilities are singing and playing all over the world. Still, more have exciting careers outside the music field while using music to enrich their lives and the lives of others.

Music Performance graduates are teaching music in public and private schools, while others are serving churches as worship leaders or choir directors. Others are employed in the music industry, including some with strong performance abilities who are singing and playing all over the world. Some are receiving advanced degrees in fields like music therapy. Still, more have exciting careers outside the music field while using music to enrich their lives and the lives of others.

Piano Pedagogy graduates are teaching music in public and private schools, while others are serving churches as worship leaders or choir directors. Others are employed in the music industry, including some with strong performance abilities who are singing and playing all over the world. Still, more have exciting careers outside the music field while using music to enrich their lives and the lives of others.

All of the traits and skills learned by theatre students will be extremely valuable to prospective employers in any field. A Theatre degree can lead to a variety of careers both in and out of the theatre, including:
Commercial, regional, and dinner theatre; TV/film studios; industrial shows; church drama; touring companies; Summerstock companies; children’s theatre; education; sports announcing; advertising; public & media relations; human resources; and business, media, and political consulting

When I think back on my time at Bryan, nothing surpasses the joy of being a part of Chorale - a group of students connected by a passion for Christ and a love for music. Chorale was a launching pad into the rest of my week relationally, emotionally, and spiritually.
