The specialization in Child and Family Studies is designed for candidates interested in pursuing a career or additional graduate study in a human services career field. We would specifically consider this to be a good fit for individuals with a background in psychology, education, child/youth ministry, or social work, though candidates from other backgrounds are certainly welcome. For folks in professions related to these areas, this program will offer a deeper study of important issues related to how humans grow and develop throughout the lifespan (to include physical/biological development, cognitive development; social development), the significance of the family unit on healthy child development, and the impact of the relationship between the family unit on the broader community. Individuals who work in schools or outreach ministries in church/parachurch ministries would benefit from this program, as would individuals working in various non-profits that are concerned with impacting children, youth, families, and communities.
