In the Worship and Performing Arts Track at the Bryan College Summer Institute, students will:

  • Discuss the relationship between performing arts and the Christian faith;
  • Develop an understanding of vocal techniques in both Classical and Contemporary Commercial Music styles;
  • Participate and receive feedback on technique and musicianship in daily Masterclass sessions; 
  • Apply their learning in instrumental and worship contexts

Dr. Kim Keck, Chair of Worship and Performing Arts Department

Associate Professor of Music, Dr. Kimberly Keck is the Chair of the Worship and Performing Arts Department where she teaches Applied Voice, Music Education related courses, and directs the Bryan College Chorale and Chamber Singers. Dr. Keck holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University in Music Education and a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. As a singer, she has performed numerous operatic and oratorio roles in Tennessee and Georgia. Dr. Keck has extensive experience as an adjudicator with the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Tennessee Association of Christian Schools.

"I am very excited to host our first Summer Institute for the Performing Arts. As a performer in today's world, I find it invaluable to have a strong and unwavering Christian worldview. In addition to developing skills as a musician, this summer we will look closely at what the Bible says about art and examine how the world has distorted these principles in various aspects of music and film."
