Admissions Counselor

Department: School of Adult and Graduate Studies

Recruits students and is responsible for managing the application pool for all graduate and undergraduate programs of the School of Adult and Graduate Studies. Provides guidance and initial advising for prospective students to determine potential enrollment status, appropriate program, location, and delivery method. Promotes the programs of the school to enhance the mission of Bryan College and enrich the environment in the communities served.

  • Demonstrates a Christian worldview and upholds the College’s Christ-centered mission in interactions with prospective students, students, faculty, and staff;
  • Oversee the internal application processing system for all assigned applicants, ensuring maximum completion of applications, maximum yield, and smooth transition from applicant to student;
  • Conducts informational meetings with prospective students and recruits at assigned community colleges;
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with businesses and community organizations as needed;
  • Represents the college at community events;
  • Generates leads using best practices as determined by the Director;
  • Contacts and provides information to prospective students in a timely manner;
  • Consistently follows up with prospective students and guides them through the enrollment process by following best practices as determined by the Director;
  • Performs preliminary transcript evaluation to determine students’ potential enrollment status;
  • Meets enrollment goals and other metrics as determined by the Director;
  • Submit reports to Director as required;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.

Bachelor’s degree required.


  • Three years of significant sales, recruitment, customer service or community relations experience.
  • Work experience in an academic environment is preferred.
  • Experience with eCAMS preferred.
  • Record of strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to employ critical thinking and problem solving skills in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clerical and telephone skills, computer literacy in Microsoft Office and email.
  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be committed to serving Him and His church.

  • Have a basic understanding of the development and delivery of non-traditional adult higher education programs.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Conveys an empathetic and caring attitude toward students and their needs.

  • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; be detail-oriented and multi-task oriented; be a team player, and be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Candidate must be willing to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends.
