Position Summary

The Area Coordinator (AC) position is a live-in, 41-week, full-time position payable over 12 months that is housed in Student Life. Dates for the AC position are as follows:

  • 24th, 2023 – Dec. 15th, 2023 (21 Weeks)
  • Christmas Break: Dec. 16th, 2023 – Jan. 1st, 2024
  • Jan. 2nd, 2024 – May 24th, 2024 (20 Weeks)

The AC is responsible for overseeing the women’s residential areas on campus. ACs manage a positive living/learning environment that contributes to and enhances the academic, intellectual, interpersonal, physical and spiritual development of residential students, and assists with the operation of the Department of Student Life. Working directly with a team of student leaders (Resident Assistants – RAs), the AC will strive to integrate faith and relationship with Christ into the on-campus living environment with students, staff, faculty, and outside constituents.

This position requires an individual to live on campus and demonstrate a mature and continually growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated spiritual leadership aptitude and experience, superior judgment, a passion for the collegiate learning environment, the ability to complete projects with minimal supervision, the understanding of current student issues, student disciplinary processes, and educational and social programming.

Reports to: Director of Residence Life

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree Preferred
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience

Experience Required

General Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee a team of Resident Assistants (RAs)
  • Be involved in the development of RA training program
  • Develop RAs professionally by offering development opportunities
  • Assist in planning the RA retreat and orientation
  • Responsible for the administrative duties of assigned residential zones
  • Manage the budget of assigned residential zone
  • Monitor and inventory storage areas, lounge & public areas, and residential rooms
  • Assist with the Summer Institute and New Student Orientation teams
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life

Resident Directors (RD):

  • Provide leadership for the RDs
  • Meet weekly with the RD(s) in the respective zone
  • Conduct disciplinary meetings with students in the respective zone

Resident Assistants (RA):

  • Select, train and supervise a team of RAs
  • Meet one-on-one with RAs weekly
  • Lead a team meeting with RAs weekly

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise assigned Resident Assistants
  • Supervisory Responsibilities to the RDs:
    • TBD
