Position Summary

The Computer Science Adjunct will teach undergraduate courses in computer science. They will equip students with both practical skills and a biblical worldview foundation for careers in computer science, engineering, and mathematics. Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, and contribution to the academic community of Bryan College.

Reports to: Vice President of Academics

Education Required

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science is preferred, but all applicants will be considered.

Experience Required

  • Experience is preferred in one or more of the following: Python, MATLAB, machine learning, cybersecurity, database management, or networking.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages required.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate a biblical worldview with academic content.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

Duties

The Computer Science Adjunct has a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Teaching & Instruction

  • Teach courses in computer science and related fields.
  • Develop and update syllabi, course content, and assessments that integrate industry standards with a biblical worldview.
  • Incorporate active learning strategies and technology into classroom instruction.

Curriculum Development

  • Contribute to program growth by developing new courses in computer science, machine learning, and cybersecurity.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum relevance to industry trends and Christian mission.
  • Integrate certifications and practical learning experiences into courses when appropriate.

Service & Leadership

  • Contribute to student recruitment and retention by engaging in college events, open houses, and marketing initiatives.
  • Mentor students in internships, portfolio development, and professional networking.

Professional Engagement

  • Stay current with computer science industry trends.
  • Pursue professional development and scholarship in related fields.
  • Assist with promoting Bryan College programs through social media and creative projects when appropriate.
