This job is a full time, benefited faculty position at Bryan College, reporting to the Vice President of Academic/Provost. The Dean of the School of Nursing will serve as the chief nursing officer and will lead all efforts in the School of Nursing related to faculty, curriculum, program development, academic partnerships, TN Board of Nursing regulations, and CCNE accreditation.

  • Coordinate and supervise quality nursing and health science programs in keeping with Bryan College’s historic Christian Mission.
  • Plans and organizes the School of Nursing work to meet Bryan’s educational goals, attain and retain CCNE accreditation, and comply with TN Board of Nursing regulations.
  • Demonstrates care and consideration for students and colleagues, not just academically but spiritually and emotionally.
  • Promotes the instructional programs to public and private organizations
  • Reviews and approves all requests for supplies and materials
  • Prepares the instructional program specifications and budget
  • Represents the School of Nursing at various internal and external meetings.
  • Supervises subordinate employees and faculty, setting the example of accountability for goals and outcomes
  • Organizes teaching assignments on an established basis to equalize teaching loads.
  • Evaluates policies, procedures, and processes, on a continual basis, and recommends/implements changes to ensure that assigned work unit is functioning.
  • Approves critical hire requests; responsible for disciplinary issues; acts as reviewing manager for performance plans and evaluations
  • Actively participates in recruitment activities in partnership with other constituencies of the College.
  • Arranges and conducts effective career counseling for applicants and currently enrolled students.
  • Develops effective student retention plans for programs in the School of Nursing
  • Solicits participation by networking with private industry, local agencies and organizations and other groups within the community.
  • Reviews and approves all requests for supplies and materials, including all curriculum materials for the program.
  • Conducts a complete and accurate inventory of equipment and supplies on a continuous basis.
  • Reviews and approves requisitions and the purchasing of all additional/new equipment and supplies as well as repairs of current holdings.
  • Motivates faculty in the School to continuously improve quantity and quality of work performed and provides training and development opportunities as appropriate.

  • Accepts direction from the Academic Vice President/Provost as well as feedback from peers (e.g. fellow Deans) and follows through appropriately.
  • Current RN licensure in TN.
  • Doctoral degree in nursing/nursing education.
  • Minimum of three years full time teaching experience in a nursing education program leading to initial registered nurse licensure or similar experience teaching in a closely related health science program.
  • Demonstrated skills in training and/or personnel development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be committed to serving Him and His church.
