Position Summary

Faculty in this position will integrate faith and learning in the classroom and will demonstrate excellence in teaching while supporting the mission to “educate students to become servants of Christ to make a difference in today’s world.” Faculty should possess a strong academic background, a passion for student engagement, and a commitment to a biblical worldview. Faculty will teach undergraduate courses, mentor students academically and spiritually, and contribute to curriculum development. Faculty will have the opportunity to shape students’ intellectual and spiritual growth within a vibrant, faith-based academic community.

The Faculty Fellow in Education will teach courses in the education area, possibly including the following areas based on background/expertise: language arts, methods of reading, instructional technology, physical education, etc.

Candidates should also be willing/able to supervise student teachers should the need arise.

Bryan College schedules courses throughout the typical workday schedule. Applicants to this position should have broad availability during the day throughout the week.

Reports to: Dean of School of Humanities

Education Required

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in field of study, terminal degree preferred.
  • Previous college teaching experience preferred.
  • Active state teaching licensure preferred.

Experience Required

Teach a minimum of six credit hours per semester (contractual load of 12 credit hours per year), provide timely feedback and grades to students, and work as needed with the Education Department to support the students and goals of the Department.

  • Teach a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester and provide timely feedback and grades to students
  • Prepare course plans and materials
  • Serve students
  • Keep weekly office hours to support student success and to personalize instruction

Desired Qualities

  • Knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the academic discipline and in professional practice.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching the courses assigned
  • Ability to create a syllabus and effectively deliver the learning objectives of the course.
  • Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
  • Ability to learn relevant sections of BrightSpace, Bryan College’s online learning management system.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
