Position Summary

The Department of Education at Bryan College seeks a part-time faculty member to teach multiple courses per year, in service of the Department’s mission to help students to LEARN, TEACH, and LEAD.

Minimal credentialing required is a master’s degree in Education, though preference will be given to applicants holding a terminal degree. In addition, a teaching certification with at least 5 years of experience in either public or private K-12 education is required.

Preference will be given to applicants who specialize in language arts and/or reading methods.

Previous college teaching experience is also preferred, although applicants lacking this may be considered.

Master’s degree in Education

Experience Required

Teach a minimum of six credit hours per semester (contractual load of 12 credit hours per year), provide timely feedback and grades to students, and work as needed with the Education Department to support the students and goals of the Department.

Duties

  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments in the academic discipline and in professional practice.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching the courses assigned.
  • Ability to create a syllabus and effectively deliver the learning objectives of the course.
  • Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
  • Ability to learn relevant sections of BrightSpace, Bryan College’s online learning management system.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
