Position Summary

Faculty in this position will integrate faith and learning in the classroom and will demonstrate excellence in teaching while supporting the mission to “educate students to become servants of Christ to make a difference in today’s world.” Faculty Fellow should possess a strong academic background, a passion for student engagement, and a commitment to a biblical worldview.

The Faculty Fellow in English Composition will teach introductory composition courses, especially emphasizing the crucial freshmen composition sequence.

Reports to: Dean of Humanities & Social Sciences

Education Required

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in field of study, terminal degree preferred.
  • Previous college teaching experience preferred.

Experience Required

  • Knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the academic discipline and in professional practice.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching the courses assigned
  • Ability to create a syllabus and effectively deliver the learning objectives of the course.
  • Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
  • Ability to learn relevant sections of BrightSpace, Bryan College’s online learning management system.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.

Duties

  • Teach a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester and provide timely feedback and grades to students
  • Prepare course plans and materials
  • Serve students
  • Keep weekly office hours to support student success and to personalize instruction.
  • Other duties as assigned
