Student Services Administrative Assistant

Department:  Student Services
Supervisor: Vice President of Student Services and Ministries
Location:  Dayton, Tennessee
Compensation:  Part-Time, Hourly 20 hours per week


The Student Services Administrative Assistant position provides administrative support to the campus chapel program and the Student Services area.  This position serves on the Chapel Coordination Team and has the following key responsibilities.


Communicate with and obtain data from scheduled chapel speakers.  Below is a list of the types of communication and responsibilities involved in this position.

Chapel Speaker responsibilities

  • Send and record initial speaker confirmation email
  • Send and record the month-out speaker confirmation email
  • Send and record the week-out speaker confirmation email
  • Schedule guest housing (if needed)
  • Schedule transportation (if needed)
  • Update daily chapel check sheets
  • Secure honorariums and travel stipends for off-campus guest speakers
  • Secure gift cards for on-campus guest speakers
  • Complete and send thank-you notes for chapel speakers


Chapel program responsibilities

  • Secure people to open and close each chapel
  • Schedule requested chapel announcements
  • Develop rolling announcements slide show
  • Complete Chapel in Detail sheet


Chapel planning and follow up responsibilities

  • Attend chapel planning meetings
  • Conduct chapel surveys
  • Choose survey winner
  • Compile survey results (for review)
  • Work with VP of Student Services and Ministries to select the Chapel Task Force
  • Assist in developing the annual chapel schedule
  • Record ideas for potential chapel series, topics, speakers
  • Schedule speakers for the annual chapel program starting middle Spring semester
  • Communicate on regular basis with Event Services for Rudd auditorium issues
  • Collect invoices and submit PO’s as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
