Campus Visit Coordinator Hannah Lee said the students were interviewed by committees of faculty and staff on Saturday to select which Dean’s Scholars will receive the Dean’s Merit Scholarship. Notification of Dean’s Merit Scholars should begin late this week, she said.
The weekend began with a reception for Dean’s Scholars to meet faculty members before a series of events including a banquet and a coffeehouse social in their honor. On Saturday, in addition to the interviews, they were able to talk with students involved in a variety of extracurricular activities, from student government to ministry outreaches in Practical Christian Involvement.
Ms. Lee said a number of Dean’s Scholars took the opportunity to preregister for fall classes and made deposits reserving space in residence halls.
During Friday’s banquet, Vice President for Enrollment Management Michael Sapienza encouraged the visitors to consider Bryan from a perspective beyond the quality academic program. “The mission of the college, putting Christ first, is becoming more and more important every day,” he said.
To that end, faculty and staff seek to mentor students to use their training and abilities to be a positive influence in the world. “I hope as you are here you will continue to develop your character as you grow to become servants of Christ to make a difference in today’s world.”
