Dr. Beth Impson earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Kansas (Lawrence) in 1989, and has taught literature and composition at Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State), in Springfield; Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas; Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi; and, for 19 years, here at Bryan College where she is Professor of English. At each of these colleges she established writing centers which continue to be active today. Her specialty areas are composition/rhetoric and Victorian literature, and her favorite courses to teach are those on creative nonfiction and the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins. As a professional writer, her reviews and essays have appeared in Touchstone: A Journal of Mere Christianity, World Magazine, and The Christendom Review. Dr. Impson and her husband, Keiller, have been married 42 years and have 5 children and 15 grandchildren. Following her retirement, Dr. Impson hopes to spend more time with her extended family as well as pursuing lifelong writing projects and creating needlework designs.
