Senator Ken Yager to Speak at Bryan College’s Spring 2022 Commencement

Senator Yager

Bryan College is excited to welcome Senator Ken Yager to speak at Bryan’s 102nd commencement ceremony on Saturday, April 30, 2022.

The ceremony will take place at 9:30 AM on the Triangle lawn and will celebrate the accomplishments of our residential and online students.

A long-time resident of Kingston, TN, Senator Yager recently celebrated 37 years of marriage with his wife, Malinda. They have two children, Bonnie-Marie and Will. Senator Yager graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a bachelor’s degree in history in 1969 and a master’s degree in 1972. In 1977, he earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Memphis.

Over the course of his career, Senator Yager has taught in the Harriman City Schools, practiced law, and served as Roane County Executive. He is also active in his community, having served as PTO president, Boy Scout committee member, school volunteer, and board member for many non-profits, including the Mid-East Community Action Agency.

Senator Yager has represented the 12th Tennessee State Senate district since 2008 and has served Rhea County and Bryan College well during that time. While his time representing Rhea County is coming to a close due to redistricting, Bryan College is grateful for his many years of service to the College and our community. He has worked hard to make a difference in Tennessee, and we look forward to hearing from him at commencement.

For those unable to attend, the ceremony will be live-streamed on our website. Learn more about the spring commencement ceremony here.
