Biography

Originally born in Osaka, Japan, Dr. Kagawa lives in Knoxville, TN, with her partner Sam and two cats, Lulu and Huan Hu. When she is not practicing, she enjoys cooking and being in nature. Dr. Kagawa is currently a member of the piano faculty at Bryan College, Dayton, TN. She has previously served on notable faculties such as New York University, the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program, the Perlman Music Program, the Great Neck Conservatory, the Piano School of NYC, the New York Summer Festival, and the Belvoir Arts Camp.

Throughout her career, she was featured as a collaborative pianist for master classes with Joseph Silverstein, Peter Wiley, Steve Tenenbaum, and David Geber. Her remarkable career has included solo performances at the Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, the Trinity Church concert series, Steinway Hall, and the Symphony Space. She won numerous national and international competitions such as the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition at Juilliard and the Nancy Clark International Piano Competition.

 Her past and future performances include collaborations with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra chamber music series, the Concertmaster Chamber Music Series of Symphony of the Mountains, the Oak Ridge Civic Music Association’s Concertmaster Chamber Music Series, the Steinway Society of Knoxville Piano Concert Series, the International Women’s Brass Conference, and Chamber Music Concert Series of the Musicians of Lenox Hill in New York.
