Position Summary

Manages library technical services area and processes, and library marketing functions . This is a 12-month full time exempt administrative faculty position.

Reports to: Director of Library Services

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (A.) from four‑year college or university
  • MLS/MLIS or equivalent master’s level degree in library science or be working towards completion of such degree
  • Preferred: Related experience in marketing or library technical services

Duties

  • Oversees ordering, receiving, and requisitioning of payment for resource materials and supplies
  • Catalogues and oversees shelf-ready processing of resource materials
  • Performs original cataloging of archival items.
  • Oversees conservation activities such as basic resource material maintenance and repair
  • Oversees archival preservation activities
  • Performs budget bookkeeping and cash management, including maintaining and reconciling the library budget in the library’s management system with that in the college’s administrative system.
  • Manages the bibliographic database and coordinates physical resource materials inventory processes
  • Oversees stack management
  • Designs and oversees implementation of marketing strategies for library services and resources, including digital signage, the library website, posters, events, etc.
  • Designs library displays and outreach materials
  • Plans and oversees library events
  • Edits the library newsletter
  • Library technical services & marketing policy/procedure development, maintenance & implementation
  • Occasionally fills in at the information desk and reference services
  • Acts as contact for library resource materials vendors, library marketing initiatives, and is a member of the Library and Learning Facilities Committee
  • Documents and reports statistics and assessment measures for functions under his/her purview
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises Library Student Assistants in performing inventory functions, the Technical Services Library Student Assistant, and the Serials Library Student Assistant, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, development, supervision, scheduling & evaluation.
