Ryan Ladner had the following article published in September:  “The Influence of Celebrity Endorsements on Stock Prices”. International Journal of Latest Trends in Finance and Economic Sciences, 2(3), 238-242.
 
Dr. Sigrid Luther took three students to Belmont University in Nashville on November 10th to compete in the State Collegiate Piano Solo Competition of the Tennessee Music Teachers’ Association.  Sophomore Melissa Smith was named honorable mention.
 
Dr. Daryl Charles authored the following two essays:  “Humanity's Nature." Touchstone (November/December 2012) and “Burying the Wrong Corpse: Second Thoughts on the Protestant Prejudice toward Natural-Law Thinking.” In Jesse Covington, Bryan McGraw, and Micah Watson, eds., Natural Law and Evangelical Political Thought (Lanham, MD: Lexington Books, 2012)
Dr. Charles also spoke on December 6th at the 2012 Fort Leavenworth Ethics Symposium at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS, on the topic of "Justice, Neighbor-Love, and the Permanent in Just-War Thinking: Why the Professional Military Ethic Must Transcend Social-Cultural Currents."
 
Dr. Mel R. Wilhoit traveled to the Parthenon (replica) in Nashville on Oct 25 to attend an Archeological Institute of America lecture on Music of Ancient Greece.  His review of a Chattanooga Symphony concert appeared in the Chattanooga Times-Free Press on Nov 7; and on Nov 17, he led the Bryan College Brass and Flute Ensembles in programs of Christmas music at the Dayton Armory, providing entertainment for the Rhea Medical Healthcare Foundation Rhea-diant annual fundraiser. On Nov 18, he sang with the Chattanooga Bach Choir for its fall concert of “Music for Royals” at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga. On Dec 1 he presided as President of the Rhea Arts Council at its annual Winter Art Exhibition awards ceremony in Dayton.  He performed on trumpet with the Tabernacle Symphony of Praise in 2 performances (Dec 1,2) at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga and for the Choral Arts of Chattanooga in 3 performances of Handel’s “Messiah” in Chattanooga, Cleveland, and Signal Mountain (Nov 25, 27 and Dec. 3).  On Dec 13, 14 he sang 2 performances with the Jeff Rouche Chorale in its annual Christmas concerts.
 
Dr. Roger Sanders and senior biology student Michael Bautista attended the 2012 annual meeting of the Tennessee Academy of Sciences held at Vanderbilt University, November 16.  Mr. Bautista presented their jointly authored paper "Analysis and Mapping of Soils in the Bryan College Arboretum," based on research he conducted last summer.
 
David Perron gained certification by successfully completing the five week course, “BP 501 – Foundations in Online Delivery”, from The Learning House – Online Education training center.
 
Dr. Kevin Clauson is Bryan's TISL Advisor.  Our TISL (TN Intercollegiate State Legislature--and Judiciary) teams did very well in Nashville in November.  The Judicial team came in second out of 30+ colleges/universities (losing only by .4 % in the scoring).  Sam Gilbertson and Ashton Alexander were the judicial team members. The Legislative team was one out of c. 70, and had a bill passed by the House of Reps. David Corwin received the Carlisle award in the House for "Outstanding Representative".  Madison Mondell was our State Senator.  

Mrs. Vonnie Johnson attended the webinar "WorldShare ILL Lending" on December 11, 2012.

Mrs. Keri-Lynn Paulson attended the webinar "Embracing the Dark Side: Using Wikipedia to Teach Information Literacy" on December 5, 2012. On December 11, she attended a webinar on Digital Literacy. 

Dr. Matt BensonDr. Bradford Sample, and Mr. Ben Norquist  convened a roundtable discussion with professionals from the counter-human trafficking world in Washington D.C. on October 15, 2012, to glean input for new Bryan initiatives in counter-trafficking education.

Mr. Andrew McPeak and Mr. Jason Glen attended 2012 Biblical Worldview Institute Conference, "Christians Confronting the Culture," November 15-16, 2012, at Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, TX. 

Mr. Ben Norquist attended a Justice Advocate Training through International Justice Mission, in Atlanta, GA, on November 3, 2012. International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that brings rescue to victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. Mr. Norquist also attended the Southeast Tennessee Conference on Social Welfare on Friday, December 2, 2012. Since 1913, the Tennessee Conference on Social Welfare has been an essential information, education, and advocacy resource for human service agencies across Tennessee. 

Mrs. Polly RevisLibrary Technical Services Manager, completed the first phase of record cleanup (over 7100 records) for Bryan's integrated library system. The transition to the new system requires a painstaking item-by-item adjustment of 22,665 records! 

Mr. Tim Shetter, Mr. Bruce MorganMr. Brad GatlinMr. Ben Norquist, Dr. Matt BensonMr. Andrew McPeakMr. Jason GlenMr. Aaron Porter, and Dr. Scott Jones attended the conference "You Lost Me. Live! Nashville" held by the Barna Group on Wednesday, October 24,2012, in Nashville, TN. The purpose of this event was to help attendees to engage in cultural change, share ideas and solutions, and create new insight on shaping the next generation.
