2010 BOP Dinner

Bryan College held its third Bryan Opportunity Program fundraising dinner on April 15, 2010, at the Chattanooga Convention Center, with more than 200 in attendance. Chattanooga businessman Jim Sattler chaired the event. Dynamic Duo Laurie Gayle Stephenson and Steve Amerson provided entertainment.

Laurie Gayle Stephenson made her Broadway debut in the Tony award winning The Secret Garden where she performed the role of Lily.  She starred for two years on Broadway in the lead role of Christine Daae in Phantom of the Opera, and made her debut as Christine in Phantom with the first national touring company at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
 
Steve Amerson has been a featured soloist with scores of orchestras and performing arts organizations across the United States and abroad including performances for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Currently, Steve is a thrilled to be a musical ambassador for the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation and Society as he sings for their events throughout the United States. With the wealth and depth of his performance experience, Steve is known as America’s Tenor.
 
Bryan Junior Andrew Zimmerman spoke at the dinner.  Along with a double major in Mathematics and Christian Thought, he travels with the Bryan Worldview Initiative throughout the eastern United States visiting Christian schools and churches and training them for cultural engagement.  Andrew also leads a local youth group and plays for the Bryan College Rugby Football Club.  After Bryan, he plans to attend graduate school with an emphasis on philosophy.
 
Almost $234,000 was raised to provide tuition for academically qualified Tennessee residents with a household income of $35,000 or less.
