MBA to offer Czech Republic internships

Mrs. Adina Scruggs, Director of Bryan’s MBA program, recently traveled to Brno, Czech Republic, to meet with Rick Gascho of Professionals International (PI) to begin the formation of an MBA International Internship Program. PI’s 15-year-old Business Development Center has ties to and impressive interactions with the Brno business community, including in-house employee Bible study programs, at major international companies.

“The impetus for a Bryan international internship program stems from the fact that virtually all MBA programs recognize that a well-educated business student must be able to grasp international business trends and practices. Also, one would be hard pressed to find any mid- or large-sized U.S. company that does not have international connections,” explains Mrs. Scruggs.

The fall 2009 trip for MBA students will include a short-term internship at a local business in Brno and culminate with a case study presentation at an Economic Forum for local college students. Mrs. Scruggs anticipates that this forum "will attract many local business students who will want to come to hear American professors and graduates. One of our partners, KVZ Students for Christ, has an ongoing student ministry at five local universities. This forum will also provide an opportunity for students in attendance to become better acquainted with those from Students for Christ.

Our students," she added, "will have convenient access to local businesses and downtown Brno as they will be staying at the Pension Integrity, a downtown Brno pension run by the Students for Christ ministry."

Mrs. Scruggs' recent trip was critical to establishing a relationship with key contacts at the local universities and partnering ministries in the Czech Republic. She stated, “I am excited about how Bryan’s MBA students will have this opportunity to directly apply their coursework to real situations, but more importantly, have an eternal impact for Kingdom growth.”
