Common Reading Program

We are pleased to announce our selection for the Common Reading Program for the 2012-2013 year. PLEASE NOTE: An announcement for the 2013-2014 book title is forthcoming. Below is information for last year's.

What is the Common Reading Program?

The Common Reading Program is designed to provide all first-year students with a common intellectual experience to stimulate discussion, critical thinking, and encourage a sense of community among students, faculty and staff.
 
As a way to be a step ahead in classes next school year, you may want to consider this a summer reading project and finish the book before you arrive on campus. This is a required textbook for CLF: Foundations for Christian Life (CT101SEMA), a required class for incoming freshmen.  

What are we reading?

Living the Cross Centered Life by C.J. Mahaney is an exciting book that explains how to escape the pitfalls of legalism, needless guilt, and feelings-driven faith. It is, as the foreword explains, “a manifesto for turning your world upside down.” Mahaney explains how the cross transforms our daily lives and changes everything. Living the Cross Centered Life will be read by all incoming freshmen, and by faculty and staff as well. The common reading program is a way to enrich ongoing conversation and community on campus. We look forward to reading and discussing this book with you!
