Student Financial Specialist

SUMMARY:

The Student Financial Specialist position will work most closely with our AGS population and will be responsible to assist students in applying for and obtaining federal and state aid as well as explaining the affordability of the adult or graduate program and collecting payments. They will assist in fulfilling the college's mission and purpose of achieving set educational goals by managing all aspects of the financial aid and payment process for prospective/new enrolling students within the AGS program including one-on-one counseling, group orientations, eligibility review, awarding, billing, payments, eligibility certification and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Counsel and advise prospective students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs and payment options
  • Compose financial aid award offers to all admitted applicants after careful review of eligibility criteria and applicable documentation analysis
  • Maintain continued awareness of federal, state and institutional awarding regulations, policies and procedures and ensure their adherence
  • Utilize external data systems to determine, confirm and certify individual student federal and state enrollment and award eligibility and amounts
  • Successfully generate and submit required reports to third-party agencies outside of the college using internal data systems as well as Microsoft Access and Excel
  • Handle student accounts including proper billing, payment processing, financial aid disbursement, adjustments and refund calculations
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong mathematical ability
  • Prolific computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Preferences:

  • Strong knowledge of and affinity for Bryan College non-traditional programs
  • Prior experience in administering student financial aid or customer billing
