The Bryan Center for International Development partners with organizations around the world. Through these strategic partnerships, the CID's Global Career Internship program has sent students around the globe to get on-the-job experience in areas such as business, politics, government, communications, and more.

Austrian Red Cross
Jennersdorf and Neusidle am See, Austria

Through a one month internship at the Austrian Red Cross facility in either Jennersdorf or Neusiedl, Austria, students worked toward completing the ARC’s 16 hour advanced first aid training program. Participants spend time working in the ambulance services division, elder care facility, and transport services. In addition, students may serve as a first responder for emergencies.

Pro Mente Burgenland Psychiatric Center
Kohfidisch and Lackenback, Austria

Pro Mente Burgenland is a state of the art psychiatric institution with locations in Kohfidisch and Lackenback, Austira. Pro Mente works with patients who have experienced serious, long lasting mental illness. During a month long internship students gain vital experience in a therapeutic psychiatric setting. Past student experiences have included providing one-to-one informal therapy to patients and a biography project on the life a bipolar patient.

The Central European Entrepreneurship Program
Trenčín, Slovakia

In May 2017, five Bryan students participated in this program organized by Palacky University. The internship program focused on the creativity, imagination, ingenuity and planning it takes to start and develop a successful business enterprise in a post-Communist environment. Participating organizations included the Czech Chamber of Commerce, Koyo Bearings, Chomout Brewery, Restaurace Bistrá kráva and the major Honeywell operation in the Moravian region of the Czech Republic.

The Bryan College International Christian Film Series
Olomouc, Czech Republic

Over the last four years, Bryan College has offered an analysis of films with Christian themes for students at Palacky University in the Czech Republic, as part of Palacky University International Week. Palacky, which was founded by the Jesuits in 1573, has a population of 24,000 students. As a part of the 2017 Palacky University International Week, Bryan College Communication Professor Michael Palmer was invited to be a participant as a lecturer on topics that cover the age of high tech communication and film.  

The Slovak National Emergency Center
Bratislava, Slovakia

A Bryan College Politics & Government major completed an internship program with the Slovak NEC in Bratislava, Slovakia in March 2015. The internship included work with the NEC Command Center, the I.T. Team, EMS Team, Crisis Management Department, Dispatch Center and with the staff that coordinated cooperation between the Slovak NEC and the Austrian Red Cross. In addition, the student observed the EMS training provided by the NEC for students at Comenius University.

Erste Österreichische Sparkasse Bank /Slovenská Sporiteľňa
Vienna, Austria

A two week internship at the Bratislava, Slovakia branch of Erste Österreichische Sparkasse called Slovenská Sporiteľňa. Interns worked in Human Resources, the bank Treasury Department, Real Estate Financing and Marketing, the Communications Department, Human Resources and the Risk, Credit & Loan Department.  

Central European Women and Children Issues Internship Program
Bratislava, Slovakia

This program was designed to look at key services provided for women and children in the Central European nation of Slovakia. The internship experience in May 2016 included the Brana do Zivota Crisis Center, the Duha Crisis Center, The Women’s Safe House (a Norwegian funded project), and the Vrakuna Mixacik Club for Children. The program looked at a range of issues related to women and children with a primary focus on the protection and rehabilitation of individuals who are victims of domestic violence.

Raiffeisen Bank International /Tatra Banka
Vienna, Austria

Raiffeisen Bank has 53,000 employees in 17 European countries. This annual internship initiative includes major bank departments such as the Brands Strategy and Communications Division, Marketing, the Payment Cards Department, Research & Development, Retail Credit Risk Management, Corporate Strategy, Change Management, Products & Corporate Clients Support Division and Private Banking. In May 2017, five Bryan students and one Business professor participated in an internship program with Raiffeisen Bank International of Vienna, Austria in their Slovak subsidiary Tatra Banka in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Central European Journalism Internships
Bratislava, Slovakia

In March 2014, two Bryan college students participated in an internship program in Bratislava, Slovakia with the English language newspaper, The Slovak Spectator. The internship is part of an ongoing training program called, “Get trained and then get published” sponsored by the European Union in Brussels and on a number of weeks is conducted by Pulitzer Prize winning authors from Europe. 

The Carter Center Conference on Global and Domestic Human Trafficking
Atlanta, GA

Bryan students have had the opportunity to attend this major conference covering domestic and global human trafficking. Noteworthy speakers have included two keynote speakers from a previous United Nations human trafficking conference, Christine Dolan and Maria Velikonja, as well as the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Alveda King. During the conference Bryan students also advocated for ending human trafficking and set up a Bryan College Students Stopping the Trafficking of Persons (SSTOP) table.  This conference was produced in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Education.

Hong Kong Human Trafficking Internship Program
Hong Kong, China

In May 2017, the Bryan CID partnered with Youth Global Network and 852 Freedom campaign to organize this internship program. The program focused on the theme of the "The Relationship Between Domestic Servitude and Human Trafficking". The three Bryan College interns were asked specifically to research and study what it looks like to live and work as a domestic helper in Hong Kong, which is an incredibly complex issue that is often closely correlated with human trafficking. The interns delivered a presentation based on their research findings from interviews with citizens of Hong Kong.

Central European Humanitarian Internship Program
Olomouc, Czech Republic

Three Bryan students participated in the Central European Humanitarian Internship Program in Olomouc, Czech Republic. The day-to-day program, organized by the Institute of Special Education of Palacky University, focused on different populations in Czech culture who need assistance from non-governmental organizations and/or government agencies. An underlying goal of the program is for participants with various career aspirations to look at how people from business, the social sciences, education, and other disciplines can better address the needs of people in society who cannot meet many of their basic needs. During the internship program students worked with P-centrum, which deals with drug addiction; the Center for Social Prevention, which works with children and parents having problems in their life situations; the Center Samaritan, which works with homeless people and the Credo School for mentally disabled children. 

Casa Josef Orphanage Programs
Beiuș, Romania

Bryan College has an ongoing relationship with Casa Josef. Staff and students have participated in various programs designed for orphanage residents. Past programs include The Preparation for Life in a Family Program and The Christmas Outreach Program. These programs focused on life skills necessary for being part of a family, as several girls in the orphanage were preparing to live with families in the United States. The programs included Bible studies concentrated on God's faithfulness and trustworthiness, and the deeper meaning of Christmas and Easter.  The program also worked with the U.S. Embassy, along with Casa Josef staff, to help secure F-1 Visas for the girls.

Ugandan Street Children Initiative
Kampala, Uganda

In partnership with a UTC Presbyterian ministry Bryan College and U. T. Chattanooga to ministered to former street children in Kampala, Uganda who had recently been housed by Christian Life Ministries.
