Bryan College Announces Opening of the Clara Ward School of Nursing
Bryan College is excited to announce the opening of the Clara Ward School of Nursing (CWSON). Funded by a generous grant from the Clifton and Clara Ward Foundation, the school will offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with the majority of classes offered on campus and some online. The BSN program will prepare students to become professional nurses who utilize skill, ingenuity, and grace in order to meet the world’s changing needs, and thus represent the Lord Jesus.
Dr. Pamela Giles has been serving as the founding dean of the Clara Ward School of Nursing since July, and she has worked to ensure that the program meets the requirements of the Tennessee Board of Nursing. She strongly believes there is a great need for nurses who are grounded in Scripture, and she is excited to develop a program that will send out graduates who will be able to make a difference in the lives of those who are at their most vulnerable.
“I am delighted at the opportunity to make sure our nursing students understand the culture in which they will practice, integrate Jesus’ perspective on that culture, develop excellent critical thinking skills, and acquire exceptional practice competencies,” says Giles. “Ultimately, these men and women will serve as the hands and feet of Jesus as they provide healthcare to hurting people.”
Next fall’s freshmen may declare nursing as their intended major and apply to the nursing program the following spring. Our first nursing classes will be offered in the fall of 2023. Classes will be located on the second floor of the Livesay Learning Center, which is currently being remodeled for the new program.
